Why did you choose JCCC?
What’s great about JCCC is that students don’t have to be studying for a certain degree or pursuing a specific program to want to come here; our campus has so many academic offerings, and our faculty so passionate and knowledgeable across all departments that we appeal to students in any field imaginable. I enjoy being able to meet people with so many different interests and goals in an atmosphere that allows us to have a sense of familiarity and closeness. I feel this is a merit few other colleges boast.

What clubs or extracurricular activities are you involved in?
As many as I can. I am a currently a member of the Debate Team, Students for Responsible Drug Policy, International Club, and Latinos United Now and Always.

What is your favorite part of JCCC?
Johnson County is blessed with a very diverse population, hosting a wide range of ethnicities, nationalities, religions, and creeds. I am proud that JCCC reflects this diversity and offers a very welcoming, tolerant, and integrated environment.

Why did you join Student Senate?
I attended my first Senate meeting out of curiosity, but it didn’t take long before the friendliness and dedication of its members inspired me to join. Everyone here is genuinely committed to improving the experience of being on campus. I’ve also had the opportunity to advance my leadership and communication skills, so there’s really been no downside for me.

What do you hope to see Student Senate accomplish this year?
I'd like to see that Senate is as active on campus as possible, both by filling our open positions, as well as reaching out to the student body. Coordinating with clubs and organizations will ensure the issues we pursue, including lockers, campus safety, and gun policy, fully represent what the student body expects from its leadership.

Why is it important for students to get involved at JCCC?
Education occupies a large part of our lives, and at the college level is especially meaningful, challenging, and rewarding. Ensuring that one gets the most out of their time here, both academically and socially, is absolutely in their best interest.

Why did you choose JCCC?
Studying at JCCC has many advantages. The first one is to be able to transfer your credits to many universities. Then the tuitions are much more affordable here than in any university. The campus is also great and I really like the landscape here and all the environment friendly initiatives. But it is also the faculty members, professors and staff who make a significant difference by their leadership and wiliness to help students strive.

What clubs or extracurricular activities are you involved in?
I am Vice Chair of Student Sustainability Committee and last year, I was Vice Chair of the Student Senate Budget Committee. I also do my best to volunteer on campus and carry projects that I am interested in. Last year, I organized a party watch for the elections, and worked with the Honors programs and International students for a series of presentations titled “Discover the World” from the CoLab.

What is your favorite part of JCCC?
My favorite part of JCCC is the sustainability projects on campus: recycling, composting, solar panels on the roofs, the Galileo Pavilion and many more..I really would like students to learn more about these projects and get involved. My second favorite part of JCCC is the many Clubs and Orgs available to students to choose from. Clubs give a great opportunity to have fun and learn at the same time, and students should take advantage of the activities and events.

Why did you join Student Senate?
I believe that JCCC is a great place to be, but I also believe that there is always more that can be done to make JCCC even better. The Senate is the best way for students to initiate changes and contribute to a better JCCC. The Student Senate gives also a voice to students for any concerns that they might have or ideas of improvements.

What do you hope to see Student Senate accomplish this year?
One of the aspects that concerned me the most is the Student Senate elections is the small number of students who voted. Senators are here to represent students in order to help make their experience at the college an amazing one. I would like to see Student Senate find ways to get students more involved. Being at JCCC is not about leaving the campus as soon as you finish your classes, it is also about being involved as learning does not occur only in the classroom.

Why is it important for students to get involved at JCCC?
I think that students who are involved today on campus will be involved tomorrow in their communities. To me, involvement means that we care, and wherever we are, we should care about the issues and challenges facing our community.

Why did you choose JCCC?
As an international student one of the important things for me to consider when choosing college in U.S. was education environment. When I came to see JCCC before I apply, I liked facilities that JCCC makes students to enhance their capability of voluntary learning such as Math Resource Center (MRC). Furthermore, I liked well-organized system for international students to get started their studying in new surroundings. And for many other reasons, I decided to enroll at Johnson County Community College.

What clubs or extracurricular activities are you involved in?
I have been in Student Senate for three semesters as of now and I will continue to be the part of this group for upcoming academic year. I’m also the member of Honors program, Phi Theta Kappa, International club, Computer club, and Chess club.

What is your favorite part of JCCC?
Not only the great education environment but JCCC also has various extracurricular activities that you can involve in. By joining clubs and organizations in campus you can experience diverse cultures and values that each student has. And you can never miss the JCCC’s one of the main events such as CAV Craze!

Why did you join Student Senate?
I’ve always been hesitated to speak up in front of other people and likely to follow their opinions. As being a member of Student Senate, I thought of it could be different. JCCC Student Senate is well-organized leadership group as well as the representatives of the Student Body. And I’m honored to be the part of this amazing group which helped me to achieve my academic and social goals.

What do you hope to see student senate accomplish this year?
Senate has been coming up with lots of great plans during last year which some of them couldn’t be completed until the end of last semester. I expect that there will be an appreciable progress in Ad-hoc Committees such as Break Space Committee. In addition, I anticipate Senate to have more simple and accurate procedure for club’s and organization’s funding request with newly revised Senate Funding Request Form.

Why is it important for students to get involved at JCCC?
Getting involved at JCCC helps students to promote better surroundings for themselves. It opens the window of opportunities to students to get to know others, built networks, and strengthen the relationship between communities.

My favorite part of JCCC is I can afford the education the high quality of the education as a student employee.

Why did you join Student Senate?
I wanted to do something for the student body especially to help them to have more information about the programs and activities the college offer. The information nowadays is the power and many students are not aware of what the college has and how they get it.

What do you hope to see Student Senate accomplish this year?
I want to work on a streamline information resource where students get all information about the college calendar, important due dates, activities, programs, and other resources they can get. I want to advocate for a practical and affordable “Student Calendar” for students.

I also work on to put more information about counselors at school. We can put more information about what their expertise is, which major/study they are trained for, and have comments section/grade system student can leave for each counselor. I also want to establish the similar information about the instructors/professors at school.

Lastly, I want to make Continuing Education classes at JCCC more affordable for Credit students and help them to get benefit from the classes/programs.
