JCCC Opens 2006-2007 Windows on the World Travelogues with ‘Alaska’
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College opens its 2006-2007 Windows on the World Travelogue series with Alaska at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, in Yardley Hall of the Carlsen Center.
In this film, travel guide Dale Johnson takes the audience to our 49th state. Alaska is full of surprises, flamboyance, astounding scenery, intimate portraits of wild creatures and diverse people in cities, villages and isolated outposts. Visit Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau. See grizzly bears frolic as they pursue salmon on Admiralty Island. Drive up the Dalton Highway from Fairbanks to Prudhoe, the main supply route for the oil fields of Prudhoe. See the Brooks Range along the western border of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and Wales, Alaska, the westernmost point on the North American Continent, only 60 miles from Russia.
JCCC offers five travelogues from October to April. Each travelogue features in-person narration by a leader in the travel-film industry. Refreshments are served at intermission. All programs begin at 2 p.m. in the Carlsen Center on the following dates.
• Oct. 3, 2006 Alaska
• Nov. 7, 2006 Biblical Treasures of Turkey
• Feb. 27, 2007 Silk Road Odyssey – Beijing to the Black Sea
• March 6, 2007 The Other Side of Mexico
• April 3, 2007 Natural Wonders of the Northeast Coast: Virginia Beach to Maine
