OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Monte Muza, guitar, Robert Scagliotti, bass, and Kent Brauninger, violist, are the Hot Club of K.C., playing at noon Tuesday, Oct. 24, in the Recital Hall of the Carlsen Center, Johnson County Community College, as part of the free Jazz Series featuring Kansas City artists.

Scagliotti's musical career has been marked by diversity. As a classical string bassist, he has performed as a member of the Oakland Symphony, Lyric Opera, St. Joseph Symphony and Kansas City Philharmonic. Out of his love for ethnic music and American jazz, Scagliotti created the Kansas City Musical Service, an agency specializing in unique and specialized musical groups. Scagliotti can be heard locally performing in Italian, German, Irish, Polish, klezmer, classical and Gypsy ensembles. Scagliotti also gives private lessons
  
Muza is a veteran jazz guitarist on the Kansas City musical scene. A former side player to Albert Collins and Eddie "Clean Head" Vinson, Muza has performed with international greats such as Dizzy Gillespie, Cannonball Adderley, Jimmy Heath, Clark Terry and Bobby Watson. Muza's guitar artistry can be heard with a number of local jazz ensembles. He is a recognized jazz and guitar instructor.

Brauninger is at home in the classical and folk music worlds, performing as a violist, beginning his 19th season with the Kansas City Symphony and the Brookside String Quartet. A multi-instrumentalist, Brauninger enjoys playing fiddle, banjo, mandolin and guitar in ensembles that include bluegrass, Dixieland and Broadway shows.

The fall Jazz Series concludes with the Bill Crain Quartet at noon Tuesday, Oct. 31, in the Recital Hall.

Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. The 50-minute concerts are cosponsored by the JCCC humanities and music departments, Community Services and the Music Performance Trust Fund of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 34-627.
