OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Johnson County Community College sophomore soccer players Marlon Beach and Nathan Taylor have signed national letters of intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kan.  Both were key defensive midfield players for the Cavaliers.  Both players provided JCCC a physical presence in the midfield and each were exceptionally strong in the air.  They were part of defense that recorded four shutouts, and had games they allowed just one goal.

“Marlon and Nathan have been very helpful to the program,” said JCCC head men’s soccer coach Fatai Ayoade.  “Marlon brought a tone of experience and discipline into the program.  He was in the Army before joining us.  Both worked hard for us on and off the field. We are proud of their accomplishments and are looking forward to watching them grow at the next level.”

Beach played in every game in his two seasons at Johnson County.  As a freshman, Beach netted five goals and two assists totaling 12 points, which were fifth most on the team. Two of his five goals came in a 7-0 victory over St. Louis-Florissant Valley.  Last season, Beach focused more on defense.  Offensively, he had one point on one assist.

Taylor played in all but three games in two seasons in a Cavaliers uniform.  In 2007, Taylor was fifth on the team in goals scored, netting two goals.  As a freshman, he had one goal, netting the final goal in the 7-0 win over Florissant Valley.

Beach and Taylor join a Kansas Wesleyan program that has won back-to-back KCAC Championships.  The Coyotes just missed qualifying for the NAIA National Tournament last year, falling to Park university, 2-1, in the final of the Region IV Tournament.  Kansas Wesleyan is coached by Mike Dibbini, who will be entering his fourth season in the fall 2008.
