JCCC’s Odom Wins Blue Devil Classic

Aaron Odom OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Johnson County Community College sophomore golfer Aaron Odom (Raytown, Mo.) recently won top medalist at the 2005 Blue Devil Fall Classic at Dub’s Dread Golf Club in Kansas City, Kan.  Odom fired back-to-back rounds of 70, finishing four under on the par 72 course.

Odom defeated Wes Stonestreet of Dodge City by two strokes, after trailing by two strokes after the first round.  Stonestreet posted the low round of the tournament, firing a 68, but couldn’t hang on, shooting 74 in round two.  This is Odom’s second collegiate win.  He was top medalist at the Kansas City Kansas Designated last spring at Rolling Meadows in Junction City, Kan.  His scores of 70 are the best of his career at JCCC.

Other key efforts for the Cavaliers were turned in by freshman Brad Burnside and freshman Andrew Manley.  Burnside finished in a tie for 13th with a 153 total (75, 78), and Manley tied for 20th with a total score of 156 (81, 75).  The team finished third overall with a 605 total, 14 shots behind Dodge City and one behind runner-up Hutchinson.
