JCCC golf team runner-up at Swede Invitational

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The  Johnson County Community College golf team recently posted a second-place finish at the Bethany Swede Invitational.  The event took place over two days and was played at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson, Kan., and The Elks Country Club in Salina, Kan.   JCCC fired a team score of 580, just two shots off the winning score by Southwestern College.  Seventeen teams participated in the tournament.

JCCC freshman Keith Erickson (Olathe South) and sophomore Matt Salome (Wichita Southeast) led the Cavaliers, placing third and fourth respectively.  Erickson fired rounds of 73 and 69 to finish with a one over par total of 142.  Salome was two strokes back with a 144, posting rounds of 73 and 71.  

Also finishing in the top 10 was sophomore Andrew Manley (Salina Central).  He opened with a 74 and closed with a 72, giving him a five over 146 effort.  Just outside the top 10 was freshman Nate Sargent (Shawnee Mission South) who finished 12th with a 148 effort, posting back-to-back rounds of 74.
