JCCC golf team tied for 10th after second round

OVERLAND PARK, KS --  The Johnson County Community College golf team is in a tie for 10th place at the NJCAA National Golf Championship at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. after two rounds of play.  With two rounds reamaining, JCCC will be looking to post its third top-10 finish in team history.

Individually, the Cavaliers have three players among the top 35 in the 123-player field.  Sophomore Matt Salome (Wichita, Kan.) is tied for 15th at even par, posting back-to-back rounds of 71.  Salome entered the national tournament leading the Cavaliers with a stroke avearage of 74.3.  Last year, Salome fired a school record 9-under par at the Links at Sierra Blanca in Ruidoso, New Mexico, which earned him a tie for 20th.

Freshman Nate Sargent (Overland Park, Kan.) is tied for 30th  at three over par, firing rounds of 74 and 71, and sophomore Andrew Manley (Salina, Kan.) is tied for 34th at four over with rounds of 74 and 72.  Manley  finished 5-under last year in the national tournament, good for a tie for 30th overall.
