JCCC men harriers win Cavalier Cup

OVERLAND PARK, KS --  The Johnson County Community College men’s cross country team won the overall team competition at the Cavalier Cup, Friday, Sept. 7, edging region rival Cloud County.  JCCC’s eight runners finished four through 11.  

Leading the way for the Cavaliers was sophomore Alex Troncoso of Kansas City, Mo.  Troncoso placed fourth overall, posting a time of 16:37.  He posted a fifth place finish at the Maple Leaf Invitational a week earlier.

Closed behind were sophomores Trevor Johannsen of Clinton, Mo. and Matt Bilhimer of Overbrook, Kan., Daniel Everhart of Kansas City, Kan., and Grant Catloth of Baldwin City, Kan.  Johannsen placed fifth with a time of 16:48.  Bilhmier was sixth with a time of 16:50, Everhart placed seventh in 16:51 and Catloth was eighth with a time of 16:52.

Rounding out the JCCC contingent were freshman Jason Rose of Louisburg, Kan. (9th-17:00), sophomore Keith Cowart of Baldwin City, Kan. (10th-17:01) and sophomore Kyle Morgison of Lawrence, Kan. (11th-17:26).
