Lady Cavaliers dominate at home event

OVERLAND PARK, KS --  The Johnson County Community College women's cross country team used its home course knowledge to their advantage, and came away with a dominate victory at the JCCC Short Course Invitational, last Friday night. The first seven runners to cross the finish line, and eight of the first nine, represented the maroon and gold of JCCC.

Sophomore Timer Yimer of North Kansas City, Mo., paced the field, finishing the 4k race in 15:44.96. She was followed by six teammates; freshman Sarah Stark of Mission, Kan. (2nd-15:47.55), sophomore Francis Gipson of Shawnee, Kan. (3rd-16:00.90), freshman Kayla Harris of Soldier, Kan. (4th-16:41.96), sophomore Renae DuPree of Shawnee, Kan. (5th-16:050.50), freshman Haley Snow of Pleasanton, Kan. (6th-16:53.14), and sophomore Heather Kochie of Freeman, Mo. (7th-17:11.40). Freshman Roxanna Cabera of Miami, Fla., was JCCC eighth runner to place in the top 10, finishing ninth with a time of 17:16.14.
