OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Chad Griffin, a sophomore first baseman for Johnson County Community College, signed a national letter of intent with Ouachita Baptist University, a NCAA Division II program in Arkadelphia, Ark. The Eudora, Kan., native had a solid fall campaign for the Cavaliers. He hit .355 (22-for-62) with six doubles, three triples, three home runs and 15 RBI. His 15 RBI and six doubles tied for the team lead, and he finished second din home runs, triples and hits. Griffon transferred from Emporia State University following the 2007 season.
Griffon joins a NCAA Division II powerhouse Ouachita Baptist program that set a school record with 50 wins (50-10), won its first-ever Gulf South Conference title and hosted during its first NCAA Tournament appearance. The Tigers were ranked most of the season, and reached as high as No. 2 (NCBWA) in the country. They coached by Scott Norwood.
