JCCC 2-0 against defending National Champions

Johnson County Community College took on the defending division II National Champion Longview Lakers for the second time this year. The Cavaliers defeated Longview 10-9 in 11 innings in their first game, and were looking for a repeat in the second meeting.

The Cavaliers scored early and often against the Lakers at JCCC on Tuesday, April 29. The Cavaliers scored in every inning but the first and ninth. Every JCCC starter recorded at least one hit and John Lenherr and Jeremy Francis each had three. Andy Chamberlin was 2-for-4 at the plate, with three RBI.

JCCC sent  Tanner Neuberger to the mound, and he picked up his third win of the season, pitching five innings, allowing only one earned run. Blake Gosch and Nick Holtgrieve shut the door the final four innings, and the Cavaliers won 11-5.

Johnson County finishes the regular season 35 – 15 and 26 – 10 in conference. They will begin playoffs this Saturday at 12:00 in a best of three series against Cloud County (22 – 34).
