JCCC Sports Info Director gets big win at convention

Tyler Cundith, Sports Information Director for Johnson County Community College, received a suitcase full of awards at the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) annual convention in Orlando, Florida.

He also was appointed president of the 2YSIDA, an affiliate organization of CoSIDA for sports information professionals from two-year schools, and completed year two of a three-year term on the CoSIDA Board.

25 years of dedication

Cundith received the organization’s 25-year award, presented to members who have completed 25 years in the profession.

In addition, the 2017 CoSIDA Publications and Digital Design contest award winners were announced at the convention. Cundith took home 12 awards for the 2016-17 academic year, which was the second-highest total in the country behind the University of Kentucky with 14.

Award-winning publications and writing

Six of Cundith’s 12 awards were selected “Best in the Nation,” including guides for:

  • men’s soccer
  • softball
  • women’s soccer
  • cross country
  • women’s basketball
  • women’s postseason basketball

Cundith also has won 244 national awards for publications and writing, including 228 by CoSIDA. He has had 112 judged best in the nation, 107 by CoSIDA.

Promoting JCCC sports

During his tenure at JCCC, Cundith has provided publicity for:

  • 11 national championship teams
  • 77 teams with a top-five finish at nationals
  • 101 Region/District championship teams
  • 129 conference championship teams
More than 1,000 individual All-Americans
