CavGuarantee Scholarship

JCCC guarantees scholarships to Johnson County high school and home-schooled students that can cover almost 25% of your tuition. See if you qualify.

Did you know that JCCC is the largest undergraduate institution in Kansas? And that almost 25% of college-bound high school graduates from Johnson County, Kansas, come to JCCC the fall after they graduate?

JCCC offers much more than just convenience and competitive tuition rates. Our students enjoy all of the typical college perks — opportunities to study abroad; access to well-paying, in-demand jobs after earning career-ready degrees; and leadership opportunities that give them the chance to learn and achieve outside of the classroom. And for graduates in Johnson County, Kansas, we also offer the CavGuarantee Scholarship, a guaranteed first-year scholarship that can cover a substantial part of tuition.

Who's Eligible:

High school and home-schooled students who reside in Johnson County and who graduate with a 3.25 unweighted GPA.

Although a FAFSA is not a requirement to receive this scholarship, you are encouraged to complete one to increase your scholarship eligibility.

How to Apply:

To qualify for the scholarship guarantee, you must complete the following three easy steps before April 1 of the year prior to admission.

  1. Submit a JCCC Admission Application.
  2. Submit your 7th semester high school transcript.
  3. Complete the primary JCCC Scholarship Application. Completing this application also makes you eligible for hundreds of other scholarships available to JCCC students. The application requires you to log in with your MyJCCC username and password. If you just submitted your admission application, your acceptance email will include this information.

Requirements:

  • Your enrollment at JCCC must begin the fall semester that begins immediately after your high school graduation.
  • You must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours.
  • You must be working toward a degree.

Disbursement:

The scholarship funds will be disbursed to you over your first two semesters — with $250 for the fall semester and $250 for the spring semester. You must make satisfactory academic progress (SAP) during your fall semester to receive the spring portion of the award. SAP criteria include achieving a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 with successful completion of 67% of all credit hours attempted.

Also Note:

The CavGuarantee Scholarship is non-renewable, and the scholarship is not stackable with other institutional scholarships. For example, if during the awarding process it shows you are eligible for another institutional scholarship of greater value, that scholarship will replace the Cav Guarantee.
